Joan Houlihan
is
the author of two books: Hand-Held Executions: Poems &
Essays (2003) and The Mending Worm, (2006) winner of the New
Issues Press Green Rose Award. A third collection, The Us, is
forthcoming from Tupelo Press. Houlihan is also author of a series of
essays on contemporary American poetry called the Boston
Comment and her work has
appeared in many journals and magazines. Her work has also been
anthologized in The Iowa Anthology of New American Poetries and The
Book of Irish-American Poetry--Eighteenth Century to Present (University
of Notre Dame Press).
She serves as
editor in chief for Perihelion
and poetry editor for Del Sol
Press and is currently on the faculty of Lesley University's
low-residency MFA in Creative Writing Program, in Cambridge,
Massachusetts. Houlihan is also the founder and director of the Concord
Poetry Center and of the Colrain
Poetry Manuscript Conference.
